The Indian team entered the final of the ODI World Cup after 12 years. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final of the World Cup 2023 on Wednesday.

 

In the high voltage match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India batted first and scored 397 runs losing 4 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, New Zealand was all out for 327 runs in 48.5 overs. Five players made important contributions to India's victory. It would not be wrong to call him the hero of victory. Let's take a look.

1) Mohammed Shami - Mohammed Shami was not a key player in the playing 11 at the beginning of the tournament, but now he has become the life of the team. Kohli scored 117 runs in 113 balls with the help of 9 fours and two sixes. Kohli made many records in his name. He played an important role in taking India to a huge score.

 

3) Shreyas Iyer - Shreyas Iyer became the solution to the puzzle of a number of the Indian team. Scored back-to-back centuries in the World Cup. Iyer had spread disappointment in the Kiwi camp with his attractive stroke style. He scored 105 runs in just 70 balls with the help of four fours and eight sixes. When Iyer was out, India had crossed the score of 380 runs. Shreyas Iyer stood third in the list of heroes.

 

4) Shubhman Gill - The Indian team's young opener Shubhman Gill also quenched the thirst of entertaining the audience with his runs amidst the heat of Mumbai. Gill retired due to cramps and missed scoring a century. He returned to bat in the end, but there were not many balls left. Gill gave a strong start to India by forming a brilliant partnership with Rohit-Virat. He remained unbeaten after scoring 80 runs in 66 balls with the help of 8 fours and three sixes.

 

5) KL Rahul - If you are thinking that Rohit Sharma should have been kept at this number, then you would not be wrong, but Rahul also had an amazing performance in fielding, due to which he could make a place in this list. KL Rahul gave the finishing touch to the first Indian innings and scored an unbeaten 39 runs in 20 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Thanks to Rahul, India made a Himalayan score of 397 runs. After this, Rahul performed brilliantly in fielding and took four catches. This was the reason why he was included in the list of heroes.
