new Delhi. Research from many reputed institutions of the world has shown that where air pollution is more, the corona is more deadly. The same trend has been observed in India. Here Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Pune are among the major cities where air pollution is highest. Nearly 40% of the country's infection cases were found here. The mortality rate from corona here is 3.85%, which is higher than the country average of 2.8%. A recent study by the State Health Resource Center in Chhattisgarh has yielded the same results.
America: The area which is more polluted has a 15% mortality rate
A Howard University study shows that in America, where pollution levels are high, the corona mortality rate was 15%. That is, a person who has been living in a high level polluted area of 2.5 PM for several decades, the probability of death of corona increases by 15%. According to the study, PM 2.5 levels were 13 micrograms in 1 cubic meter in many areas of the US most affected by the corona. This is much higher than the US average of 8.4. If Manhattan had less pollution particles per one microgram per cubic meter, there would probably have been 248 fewer deaths.
China: 120 cities have cases of infection because more pollution
Speaking of China, which is considered the birthplace of Corona, the pollution levels of 120 cities here have been linked to the outbreak of Covid epidemic by researchers. There was an increase of 10 microgram particles in 1 cubic meter, which led to an increase in positive cases of infection. This is not the first time that virus infection deaths are being linked to pollution. This was said in a 2003 research on SARS patients in China. According to him, if the patients lived in areas with high levels of pollution, then the death toll would have increased by 84%.
Italy: Northern Italy most polluted, death rate here is 12%
The mortality rate in the Lombardy and Emilia Romagna regions of northern Italy was 12% compared to the rest of Italy (4.5%). One of the main reasons for this is pollution. According to research, small particles from the air spread the virus. Pollution is higher in the Po Valley than in other places in Italy. Researchers cite another research saying that influenza, other viruses affecting the respiratory tract and smallpox are spread by air particles. Therefore, reduction of pollution in addition to human interaction can also be a way to stop the spread of the virus.
