Mukesh Ambani-led Jio Platforms could launch its much-awaited initial public offering (IPO) by late October or early November, according to recent reports. The proposed issue, estimated at around ₹37,700 crore ($3.8 billion), could become India’s largest IPO if the issue size remains at the current estimate.
Jio Platforms, the telecom, digital and technology arm of Reliance Industries, received SEBI’s final observations for its IPO on August 28, clearing a major regulatory hurdle. The company had filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI on June 19, 2026.
Jio IPO Date: When Could the Issue Open?
The exact Jio IPO dates have not been announced yet. However, sources cited in recent reports indicate that the company is considering the Navratri-Diwali festive period for its market debut.
The current timeline being discussed is:
Late October 2026: Potential IPO launch window, particularly around Navratri.
Early November 2026: Possible alternative if the issue is delayed.
Diwali period: Another potential window if Jio does not launch during Navratri.
Recent reports indicate that Jio could finalise the exact dates within the next couple of weeks. The company is expected to conduct international roadshows before domestic investor meetings, with reports suggesting around three weeks of international roadshows followed by two weeks of domestic roadshows.
Important: These are reported timelines, not confirmed IPO dates. Investors should wait for Jio Platforms and the stock-market regulators to announce the final issue schedule.
Will Jio Break India’s Biggest IPO Record?
If the estimated issue size of around ₹37,700 crore holds, Jio Platforms could set a new record for India’s largest IPO.
The current completed-IPO record belongs to Hyundai Motor India, which raised approximately ₹27,870 crore in October 2024. Jio’s proposed issue would be significantly larger.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has also received SEBI approval for an IPO estimated at around ₹30,000 crore. NSE is expected to launch its issue in September, meaning the race for India’s largest IPO is becoming particularly significant. If Jio launches at its current estimated size, it would still be larger than the NSE offering.
India’s Major IPOs
Company IPO size Status
Jio Platforms ~₹37,700 crore Proposed
NSE ~₹30,000 crore Proposed
Hyundai Motor India ~₹27,870 crore Completed in 2024
LIC ~₹20,557 crore Completed in 2022
The final ranking will depend on the actual issue size and pricing when each IPO is launched.
What Does Jio’s DRHP Reveal?
According to Jio Platforms’ DRHP, the company plans to issue up to 27 crore fresh equity shares, representing approximately 2.9% of its post-issue equity capital. The proposed IPO does not include an Offer for Sale (OFS) component.
The estimated IPO proceeds will primarily be used to reduce the debt of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), Jio Platforms’ operating subsidiary.
Up to ₹27,500 crore of the proceeds could be used to repay or prepay RJIL’s outstanding borrowings, with the remaining amount earmarked for general corporate purposes.
Jio IPO: Who Are the Major Investors?
Jio Platforms has attracted several major global investors.
According to the company’s DRHP, Jaadhu Holdings LLC, an affiliate of Meta Platforms, holds 9.98%, while Google International LLC holds 7.73% of Jio Platforms before the issue. Other major investors include Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, KKR-linked entities, Vista Equity Partners, Silver Lake, Mubadala and General Atlantic.
The presence of these global technology and investment companies has made Jio’s IPO one of the most closely watched public-market transactions in India.
Why Is the Jio IPO Important?
The proposed listing could give public-market investors a direct opportunity to invest in one of India’s largest telecom and digital businesses.
Jio has expanded beyond traditional telecom into areas including 5G, broadband, enterprise services, cloud, artificial intelligence and digital platforms. The IPO is also expected to provide greater visibility into the valuation of Jio Platforms as a standalone business.
For Reliance Industries, the listing would also mark an important milestone in unlocking value from its digital and telecom businesses.
Jio IPO 2026: What Investors Should Watch
Before investing, investors should monitor:
Final IPO dates and price band
Final issue size
Jio Platforms’ valuation
IPO subscription and institutional demand
Use of IPO proceeds
Debt repayment by Reliance Jio Infocomm
Market conditions at the time of listing
The estimated ₹37,700-crore size is based on current expectations and could change depending on the final pricing and structure. Investors should not treat the reported IPO size or launch window as final until the company makes an official announcement.
