Big gift of Punjab cabinet: Now water bill of every household will be Rs 50, Group-D recruitment will be regular

Several important decisions were taken in the Punjab cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday morning. Chief Minister Channi addressed the media after the cabinet meeting and informed them that instead of the earlier applicable charges on the size of plots in cities, now the water bill will be only Rs 50.


Water bills for plots up to 125 yards in cities will be waived even further. Earlier the minimum bill on the rest of the plots was Rs 105 but now it will be Rs 50 for all. The water bill of the village, which was earlier Rs 166 per month, will now be Rs 50 per month. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and OP Soni and Cabinet Ministers Manpreet Singh Badal and Vijay Inder Singla were present on the occasion along with the Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister said that all the reliefs are for every caste, class and not for any particular class. He said that the government will waive water arrears of Rs 700 crore in cities. At the same time, the burden of electricity bills of tube wells installed on water tanks will no longer be borne by the committees, but the government. The Punjab government will waive Rs 1168 crore arrears of panchayats and tube wells installed in water tanks. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that the recruitment of D category employees will no longer be outsourced. There will be regular recruitment of all D category employees and the recruitment process will start soon.
