The Allahabad High Court has reserved its decision regarding the maintainability of the civil suit pending in the Varanasi court regarding the ownership dispute of the Gyanvapi campus and conducting the survey. It will be pronounced on 28 August.
The Sunni Central Waqf Board and the Anjuman Arrangement Masjid Committee have filed the petitions. It was said on behalf of the petitioners that the civil suit is not maintainable under Section 4 of the Places of Worship Act, 1991. Justice Prakash Padia heard the petitions filed regarding the order of the Varanasi court and the validity of the civil suit.
The Supreme Court stayed the survey till July 26
The court asked the question when the High Court had stayed the survey, then how did the Varanasi court order the survey again? It was said by the temple side that the High Court had stayed the interim order of the survey. The case hearing was not stayed. After hearing the new application, the district court gave its verdict. However, the Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Varanasi court till July 26.
The mosque side reached the High Court
The mosque side has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court demanding a stay on the survey of the Gyanvapi complex. A petition has been filed on behalf of the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee against the order of the District Judge of the ASI survey of the campus.
The advocates of the committee are sitting in the court of the Chief Justice for mention. The Chief Justice may order the petition filed today to be presented for hearing. In this case, the Hindu side has already filed a caveat in the High Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the survey till 5 pm on July 26. The Advocate General is present to represent the government.
