Rae Bareli, April 27 (IANS) Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Sunday sharpened her attack on BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying his party believed in giving all powers to one man.
"A new brand of politics is increasingly coming to the fore. This politics expects people to give away all their powers to one man," Gandhi told an election rally in Rae Bareli where her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha election.
Her comments came a few hours after she took a jibe at Modi, contending that India did not need a "56-inch chest" to provide good governance.
Priyanka Gandhi, whose husband Robert Vadra is under attack from the BJP for "unscrupulous" land deals, further said that no one person could place himself above the people in a democracy.
"Whereas the Congress believes the rights and powers of the people should remain with them, the opposition thinks only one man is capable of taking all decisions," she said in an apparent reference to Modi.
Earlier, she attacked Modi for self-glorification.
"India does not need a show of one's achievements. She needs strength and determination in the mind," she said at a public meeting.
This Lok Sabha election was not only about electing MPs but also about safeguarding the culture and values of this country, she added.
"When you vote, think about the future of this country... You have to safeguard the cultural heritage of India," she said.
Rae Bareli goes to the polls Wednesday.
Within 24 hours, more than 2.33 lakh patients were found, 1.22 lakh people were cured and 1338 died.
