According to a report, the Students Federation of India had recently made this demand from the central government. In this demand, the Federation had said that the government should reconsider the current fellowship increase and increase it by a minimum of 40% keeping in mind the rising cost of living. Also, it should be kept in mind that the fellowship should be distributed on time and regularly so that the researchers can focus on their research without worrying about finances.
States are demanding more funds to implement the Four Year Undergraduate Program.

States say that to implement FYUP, they will have to build new classrooms. New faculty and other basic things will be needed, which will increase the cost.
