According to a report, the Students Federation of India had recently made this demand from the central government. In this demand, the Federation had said that the government should reconsider the current fellowship increase and increase it by a minimum of 40% keeping in mind the rising cost of living. Also, it should be kept in mind that the fellowship should be distributed on time and regularly so that the researchers can focus on their research without worrying about finances.

States say that to implement FYUP, they will have to build new classrooms. New faculty and other basic things will be needed, which will increase the cost. This year Rs 1,12,899 crore was allocated for the education sector, while talking about the year 2022, only Rs 1,04,277.72 crore was released to the Ministry of Education.
