According to media reports, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also holds an LLB degree, may attend the hearing in the apex court and present her arguments.

TMC will support the impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner if it comes up

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday targeted the Modi government and the Election Commission over the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar through an impeachment motion. She said that if an impeachment motion is brought against Gyanesh Kumar, her party will support it.

Mamata appealed to other opposition parties to garner support on this issue.

Mamata's statement comes after she and her delegation walked out of a meeting with the Election Commission on Monday regarding the SIR.

She alleged that Gyanesh Kumar displayed arrogance and insulted her delegation during the meeting.

At a press conference in Delhi on Tuesday, Mamata said that most of the people whose names are being removed from the Bengal electoral roll are TMC supporters.
