Central Government: The government earned 4.3 lakh crores from the duty on petroleum

The central government has earned Rs 4.31 lakh crore as customs duty and excise duty on petroleum products during the financial year 2021-22. This information has been revealed under the Right to Information (RTI).

 

According to the information received, a customs duty of Rs 50,902.43 crore was collected on the import of petroleum products in India during the financial year 2021-22. During this period, Rs 3,80,113.47 crore was deposited in the exchequer in the form of central excise duty applicable on the manufacture of petroleum products in the country. In this way, the government earned Rs 4.31 lakh crore during the last financial year. Chandrashekhar Gaur of Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh had sought this information by applying RTI.

Russia misses 5th time in LNG supply

 

This is the fifth default in the supply of LNG gas to India after Russia imposed sanctions on one of the gas supply companies to India. GAIL has signed a deal with the Singapore unit of Russian gas producer Gazprom to import 2.85 million tonnes of LNG every year. This company has defaulted in supplying five times since June.

 

Passenger vehicle exports up 26%

 

Passenger vehicle exports from the country grew by 26% year-on-year to 1,60,263 units in the June quarter of 2022-23. In the same quarter of 2021-22, this figure was 1,27,083. According to SIAM, exports of passenger cars rose 88% to 1,04,400 units. Utility vehicle exports grew 18 percent to 55,547 units.

 

HUL posted a profit of Rs 2,391 crore

 

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) made a profit of Rs 2,391 crore in the June quarter of the current financial year. This is 14 percent higher than Rs 2,100 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Total income grew by 20.36% to Rs 14,016 crore. CEO Sanjiv Mehta said that the company has performed well in the quarter.
