Chameli Devi Jain Award for online journalist

New Delhi, March 16 (IANS) The prestigious Chameli Devi Jain Award for Outstanding Woman Journalist for the year 2014-15 has been given to an online journalist, Surpiya Sharma, The Media Foundation announced on Monday.

This is the first time the award has been given to a journalist working for on online news portal.

Sharma, news editor for Scroll.in, a digital news and current affairs portal, won the award for her well-crafted reportage on the marginalised and neglected communities and also on the contemporary issues.

The award will be presented on March 19 at the India International Centre and will be followed by a lecture on the topic "Shrinking Space for Dissent".

This year's jury comprised of R. Sukumar of Mint, Ravish Kumar of NDTV India and Kaveree Bamzai of the India Today group.
