The relentless rise in fuel prices across India continues to worry consumers as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices were once again increased on Tuesday. Following the recent hikes in petrol and diesel prices, CNG rates in New Delhi and several NCR cities have now been revised upward for the fourth time within just two weeks.
The latest price hike comes amid escalating global energy concerns, rising crude oil prices, and continued geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Energy companies say persistent volatility in international markets is putting pressure on domestic fuel pricing.
Delhi CNG Price Increased by ₹2 Per Kilogram
According to the latest revision announced by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the price of CNG in Delhi has been increased by ₹2 per kilogram.
Latest CNG Prices in Delhi-NCR:
Delhi: ₹83.09/kg (Earlier ₹81.09/kg)
Noida: ₹91.70/kg
Ghaziabad: ₹91.70/kg
Greater Noida: ₹91.70/kg
Gurugram: ₹88.12/kg
Ajmer: ₹92.44/kg
The revised rates came into effect from Tuesday morning.
Fourth CNG Price Hike in Just Two Weeks
This latest revision marks the fourth increase in CNG prices within a span of approximately two weeks.
Earlier, on May 23, IGL had already increased CNG prices by ₹1 per kilogram. Before that, multiple upward revisions were also implemented as global energy costs continued to climb.
The latest increase follows:
Recent petrol price hikes
Diesel rate revisions
Rising transportation and energy costs nationwide
The repeated hikes are now adding financial pressure on:
Daily commuters
Cab drivers
Auto-rickshaw operators
Commercial transport businesses
Why Are CNG Prices Rising Continuously?
Experts believe multiple global and domestic factors are contributing to the steady increase in fuel prices.
Key Reasons Behind the Hike:
1. Rising Global Crude Oil Prices
International crude oil prices remain elevated due to ongoing geopolitical instability.
2. Middle East Tensions
Concerns surrounding conflicts in the Middle East have intensified fears regarding fuel supply disruptions.
3. Strait of Hormuz Supply Concerns
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes. Any instability in the region directly impacts global fuel prices.
4. Rupee Volatility and Import Costs
A weaker rupee against the US dollar has also increased India’s energy import expenses.
5. Higher Operational Costs
Gas distribution and transportation costs have also reportedly risen.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Also Continue to Rise
The latest CNG hike comes immediately after another round of petrol and diesel price increases across the country.
Oil marketing companies recently raised:
Petrol prices by ₹2.61 per litre
Diesel prices by ₹2.71 per litre
This marked the fourth fuel price hike in just 10 days.
In New Delhi:
Petrol prices crossed ₹102 per litre
Diesel prices moved above ₹95 per litre
The back-to-back revisions have triggered concerns regarding inflation and rising household expenses.
Impact on Common People Likely to Increase
The continuous rise in fuel prices is expected to affect several sectors of the economy.
Areas Likely to Be Impacted:
Public transportation fares
Cab and auto-rickshaw charges
Goods transportation costs
Food and vegetable prices
Delivery and logistics expenses
Since CNG is widely used in commercial vehicles and public transport systems, the latest hike could directly impact urban commuters.
Delhi-NCR Commuters Feel the Pressure
The latest increase has particularly affected commuters in Delhi-NCR, where:
Thousands of autos run on CNG
Public transport heavily depends on gas-based fuel
Cab aggregators extensively use CNG vehicles
Drivers and transport operators have expressed concern that repeated hikes are significantly increasing daily operating costs.
Industry Experts Warn of Further Volatility
Energy analysts believe fuel prices may remain volatile in the coming weeks due to:
Ongoing geopolitical uncertainty
Global oil supply concerns
Unpredictable international energy markets
If crude oil prices continue to rise globally, additional fuel price revisions cannot be ruled out.
Social Media Reactions Intensify
As fuel prices continue climbing, social media platforms have been flooded with reactions from frustrated users.
Many users highlighted:
Rising inflation
Increased transportation costs
Financial strain on middle-class families
Fuel prices have once again become a major topic of public discussion online.
Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: Petrol and diesel prices rise again; increase of 91 paise per liter.
Amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, fuel prices in the country have been hiked for th
