Jaipur, Jan 29 IANS) Intense cold conditions affected normal life and fog hit train services in Rajasthan with mercury almost touching the freezing point in Churu town Thursday.
According to weather officials, the minimum temperatures in most cities and towns in the state were hovering about 3-6 degrees Celsius below what is normal for this time of the season.
Churu in the plains was coldest at 0.4 degree Celsius, almost 6 degrees below normal. Mount Abu, the only hill station in the state, recorded a freezing 1.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal.
State capital Jaipur was cold at 4.6 degrees Celsius, almost four degrees below normal. Pali was chilly at 2.2 degrees Celsius, and so was Pilani at 2.9 degrees.
Udaipur, famous for its lakes, recorded 4.4 degrees Celsius and Sri Ganganagar 4.6 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, fog in certain areas of the state affected train services and 10 trains were running late by one to ten hours. The railway authorities rescheduled the three trains.
