New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Sunday said yoga guru Ramdev was doing great work through his "yoga andolan" in the country but the Congress was creating problems for him.
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader said the yoga guru was fighting it out on his own strength against all issues.
Addressing a "Yoga Mahotsav" at the Ramlila Maidan here, Modi said yoga was an instrument to create awareness among people about their duties towards the country.
He said Ramdev was not affiliated to any political party and had a "fire" within him against the problems of corruption and black money.
The Gujarat chief minister said many of the issues raised by Ramdev were his own issues now.
"Many try to trouble him (Ramdev). Despite that, he is fighting today. He is fighting against such a big 'sultanate' on his own strength," Modi said, without naming the Congress.
The Congress-led Uttarakhand government had registered cases against trusts associated with Ramdev for alleged violation of the Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act and the Indian Stamps Act.
Modi said Ramdev has made India popular across the world through yoga.
"Yoga is enough to reach out to the entire world and give recognition to the country," he said at the huge gathering attended by thousands of followers of the yoga guru.
Modi also said the Congress-led government at the centre neither had any vision nor was keen of making yoga popular.
"I am glad Ramdev is bringing up such issues and making it popular among the youth," he said. "Yoga can also be used for the welfare of humanity."
Meanwhile, speaking on the Lok Sabha elections, Ramdev said the country was feeling a wave and people needed to vote in the right direction.
