The new variant of Corona, Omicron, has reached 13 countries of the world. Its first case was found in Botswana. It was sequenced for the first time in South Africa. After this, it has been found in Hong Kong, Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Israel, Czech Republic, Australia, Portugal, and Canada.

Because of the increasing cases, many countries have been ordered to speed up testing isolation, while many countries including the UK, Sri Lanka, Maldives have imposed a travel ban on African countries. America is also preparing to impose a travel ban on African countries today. Here, Japan has banned the entry of all foreigners because of Omicron.

People above 18 years will get booster dose in the UK

Strictness has been increased in Britain regarding the new variant of Corona, Omicron. Here it has been advised not to be lax regarding travel bans, face masks, and testing. According to sources, now all citizens above 18 years will be given a booster dose. Till now this dose was being given only to those above 40 years of age. To speed up the vaccination of the booster dose, the gap between the second and third doses can also be reduced. Now it is 6 months and it can be reduced to 5 months.

So far, 18 million people have been given booster doses in the UK. The decision to give a booster dose to all adults has been taken because 75 potential samples of the South African variant are being tested in British labs. Here 3 such cases have been confirmed and the people who came in contact with them are also being traced.

Omicron infection suspected in 8 people in France

8 suspected cases of Omicron, a new variant of Corona, have been found in France. The French Health Ministry said on Sunday night that some travelers have returned from trips to Africa in the last 14 days, 8 of them are suspected to have Omicron infection. Mutations of alpha, beta, gamma, and delta variants have not been found in the screening of coronavirus found in all these patients, now further information will be gathered through sequencing. France has already banned flights from seven African countries.

Two Omicron infected patients found in Canada, both returned from Nigeria

The first two cases of Omicron, a new variant of Corona, have been reported in Canada. Giving information about this, the Government of Canada said that two confirmed cases of Omicron variant have been found in Ontario. Both these cases have been found in two people who returned from Nigeria. The Chief Medical Officer of Health said that Ottawa Public Health is investigating the matter and both patients are in isolation.

Since then, the rules of testing are being tightened for passengers coming to Canada. Now passengers coming from any country will have to get tested at the airport itself. On Friday, Canada imposed a ban on travelers coming from South African countries.

America prepares to ban travel from African countries

The US has geared up to protect against Omicron, the new variant of the coronavirus first found in South Africa. America has made preparations to ban any kind of travel from African countries to prevent this virus. Sources in President Joe Biden's administration said it would be announced on Monday.

On the other hand, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the President's Chief Medical Adviser, has said that Omicron appears to be spreading the infection more rapidly than all other variants of Corona found so far. Based on the facts revealed so far, it also seems that this variant can bypass the monoclonal antibodies (immunity produced naturally in the body due to corona infection) and for this reason, it can prove to be slightly fatal. There is also the possibility that it may also betray the antibodies produced by the vaccine.

On the other hand, Dr. Paul Burton, Chief Medical Officer of Moderna Vaccines, has described the Omicron variant as dangerous. However, Burton expressed hope that this variant will also be dealt with.
