According to sources, now all citizens above 18 years will be given a booster dose. Till now this dose was being given only to those above 40 years of age. To speed up the vaccination of the booster dose, the gap between the second and third doses can also be reduced. Now it is 6 months and it can be reduced to 5 months.

The decision to give a booster dose to all adults has been taken because 75 potential samples of the South African variant are being tested in British labs.
