Corona Updates: 56,017 patients were found in the country in 24 hours, 656 deaths; 71% active cases in 5 states including Kerala and Maharashtra

In the last 24 hours, 56,017 new cases of corona infection were found in the country, 1.49 lakh patients were cured, while 656 people died due to corona infection. There has been a decline of more than 9 thousand in new cases as compared to Wednesday. On Wednesday, 65,158 new cases of infection were reported.

 

Cases of infection are being recorded as the beginning of the third wave. On January 4, 58,097 cases were registered. After this, an increase in daily cases was recorded continuously. On January 20, 3 lakh 47 thousand 254 cases were registered at the peak. Since then the cases have been declining.

 

Most active cases in Kerala

At present, the active cases in the country are 6.88 lakh. 71% of these cases are in just 5 states. These states are- Kerala (2.32 lakh), Maharashtra (70.1 thousand), Tamil Nadu (66.9 thousand), Karnataka (52 thousand), Andhra Pradesh (40.8 thousand), and Madhya Pradesh (29.5 thousand).

 

The lowest number of deaths were recorded in 14 days

On Thursday, 656 people died due to a corona infection. This figure of deaths is the lowest after 14 days. Earlier on January 29, 627 people lost their lives. Since then, the death toll was recorded at more than 1,000. Since the beginning of the epidemic in the country, a total of 4.24 crore people have come under the grip of infection. At present, 7.81 lakh people are being treated for corona.

Changes in rules for foreign travelers, now no need for RT-PCR or Quarantine

The central government on Thursday changed the rules for foreign travelers to take entry into the country. The government has abolished the 'at risk' countries category. According to the new rules, now passengers will not have to come to India to undergo any test, nor will they have to be quarantined. The new guideline will come into effect from February 14.

 

Foreign travelers will have to fill only a self-declaration form, in which they will have to provide a travel history of 14 days and will have to submit a negative report of RT-PCR test done within 72 hours of travel. This form will be available on the Air Suvidha Portal.

 

These rules will be applicable only for travelers from 72 countries whose vaccination program has been recognized by the Government of India. These countries include Canada, Hong Kong, the USA, the UK, Bahrain, Qatar, Australia, New Zealand, and some European countries.

1. Kerala: 4 thousand reductions in new cases

On Thursday, 18,420 new infected have been found here, while 43,286 patients have been cured and 341 people died. On Wednesday, 23,253 new infections were found, while 46,393 patients were cured and 277 people died.

 

A total of 63.65 lakh people have been infected here since the beginning of the epidemic. Of these, 60.70 lakh people have been cured, while 61,134 people have died. The positivity rate is 22.31%. A day earlier, the positivity rate was 30.86%.

 

2. Maharashtra: Death toll reduced by half

In Maharashtra, 6,248 new cases of corona have been found in the last 24 hours. During this 45 people died and 18,942 people were cured. A day before this, 7,142 new cases of the corona were found on Wednesday. During this 92 people died and 20,222 people were cured.

 

A total of 78.29 lakh people have been infected here since the beginning of the epidemic. Out of these, 76.12 lakh people have been cured, while 143,292 people have died. The positivity rate is 4.63%, a day before the positivity rate was 5.37%.

 

3. Madhya Pradesh: New cases decreased and 6 died

In Madhya Pradesh, 2,742 cases were reported in the last 24 hours and 6,555 people were cured. During this 6 people died. A day before this, 3,226 cases were reported on Wednesday and 6,980 people were cured. During this 5 people died.

 

So far, more than 10.18 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 9.78 lakh people have been cured, while 10,679 people died. 29,565 patients are currently undergoing treatment. The positivity rate is 3.68%, up from 4.68% a day ago.

 

4. Gujarat: About four times more were cured than new cases

On Thursday, 2,275 new cases were found in Gujarat. 8,172 people defeated Corona, while 21 people died. A day before this, 2,056 new corona cases came on Wednesday. 5,155 people were cured and 16 people died.

 

So far, a total of 12.10 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 11.78 lakh people have been cured, while 10,761 people have died. Here the active case is 21,437 and the positivity rate is 2.36%.

 

5. Uttar Pradesh: A decline of about 1,400 in new cases

There were 2,321 new corona cases in the last 24 hours. 4,357 people were cured and 13 people died. Earlier on Wednesday, 3,728 cases were reported and 7,177 people were cured. During this 17 people died.

 

So far 20.53 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 20.11 lakh people have been cured, while 23,372 people have died. 18,016 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the state. The positivity rate here is 1.18%.

 

6. Rajasthan: New cases decreased compared to the previous day

In Rajasthan, 3,479 cases were reported in the last 24 hours and 7,354 people were cured. During this 16 people died. A day before this, i.e. on Wednesday, 3,728 cases were reported and 7,177 people were cured. During this 17 people died.

 

So far, more than 12.50 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 12.04 lakh people have been cured, while 9,407 people died. 37,278 patients are currently undergoing treatment. The positivity rate is close to 6.98%.

 

7. Delhi: Continuous decline in new cases

On Monday, 1,114 new corona cases were reported in Delhi and 12 people died. 2,079 people have been cured. A day before this, 1,317 new corona cases were reported and 13 people died. 1,908 people were cured.

 

So far, more than 18.46 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 18.13 lakh have been cured, while 26,010 died. On January 15, the positivity rate in Delhi was 30%, which has come down continuously to below 3%.

 

8. Punjab: 7,451 active cases in the state

In Punjab, 489 new infections have been found on the last day and 26 people have died. 1,762 people have also recovered from the infection. A day before this, 665 new infected have been found and 29 people died. 1,471 people also recovered from the infection

 

So far 7.53 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 7.28 lakh people have been cured, while 17,495 people have died. The total active cases are 7,451. The positivity rate in the state is 1.99%.
