The suggestion to Ali not to do this popular series was not given by anyone but by some directors. The reason for this is that when this series was being made, the OTT platform had not emerged that strongly in India.
Ali Fazal says, 'When I got the offer of 'Mirzapur', not many shows were happening. But luckily, I got a chance to work during that time. However, I could see the future of OTT shows. I understood that this model was working. But, many famous directors then advised me that I should not do 'Mirzapur'. He had said, 'What are you doing? This will come in five years.
Ali Fazal further said, 'By that time OTT model had been formed in the West. I knew it would be a blast. We love our theatres. I always do films which come to theatres. This is the case with every actor.
