Corona's havoc: Schools and colleges closed again in many states, know where and how long it will remain closed?

Once again, the global infectious epidemic coronavirus cases are seen increasing steadily. In recent times infections have increased wildly in many states. The reason for this, whether it is no longer strictly during lockdown or people's habit of not wearing masks, is called negligence. But the increasing cases of Corona have once led to the closure of many educational institutions including schools, colleges, universities in many states.

 

Recently, in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry, governments have again tightened up and have taken several important steps such as closing schools and colleges to curb new cases of corona infection. Similar situations are also there in the union territories. Here too, instructions have been given to keep schools and colleges closed by the local administration.

 

States that have closed school-colleges include Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Significantly, in the last year i.e. in March 2020, under the nationwide lockdown announced due to Covid-19 in all states, physical classrooms and educational institutions were closed.

 

Most states and union territories started opening educational institutions in February, but now have to be closed again. While in many states the examinations for school and board classes were canceled. Let's know in which state, what, and how long it will be closed ...

 

Uttar Pradesh :

Due to increasing cases of Covid-19, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced that all schools in the state from class one to eighth will be closed till April 04, 2021. Earlier this date was March 31, 2021. It has been extended four days further.

 

Madhya Pradesh :

Because of the increasing COVID-19 cases, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to close all the government and private schools for students of classes one to eight by April 15, 2021. Although schools will be open to students from ninth to 12th grade, the Corona Rescue Guidelines will have to be strictly followed.

 

Punjab :

Punjab government has closed all educational institutions other than medical and nursing colleges till 31 March 2021, but has now decided to keep schools and colleges closed for 10 days and till 10 April 2021.

 

Himachal Pradesh :

The Government of Himachal Pradesh has ordered the closure of all educational institutions by April 04, 2021. Because of the increasing Covid-19 cases, all the universities, colleges, and schools in the state will remain closed. However, schools conducting examinations for senior classes will be open.

 

Gujarat :

Because of the increase in the cases of Covid-19, the Gujarat government has suspended classes till April 10, 2021, for the school located in eight urban areas. These eight municipal corporations include Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, and Gandhinagar.

 

Chhattisgarh:

The Chhattisgarh government has announced the closure of all schools until further notice. On March 21, 2021, the government had announced the promotion of students of all classes except those studying in 10th and 12th grade without examination.

 

Telangana

In Telangana, all educational institutions (schools, colleges, hostels, gurukul institutes) except medical colleges have been closed due to the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases. The government has postponed all ongoing and scheduled examinations of degree, postgraduate (PG), and other programs due to the closure of educational institutions in the state.

 

Tamil Nadu

The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order to close the schools for classes IX, 10th, and 11th from 22nd March, 2021 till further orders. While school of other classes is already closed.

 

Puducherry

The administration of the Union Territory of Puducherry has ordered the closure of all schools from classes one to eight between March 22, 2021, to May 31, 2021.
