'Covaxin is completely safe, no side effects', Bharat Biotech said - people's safety was the priority while making the vaccine.

Bharat Biotech claimed on Thursday that its anti-coronavirus vaccine Covaxin is safe. It has no side effects. Bharat Biotech made this claim amid AstraZeneca's admission that the Covishield vaccine may have side effects. In India, Covaxin and Covishield vaccines were administered to people to protect them from Corona.

People's safety was the priority: Bharat Biotech

Bharat Biotech said in the statement that while making Covaxin, our priority was the safety of the people and the second priority was the quality of the vaccine. Under the licensing process, Covaxin was tested on more than 27 thousand people. Covaxin was the only anti-corona vaccine in the Indian government's COVID-19 vaccination program, whose efficacy was tested in India.

What has AstraZeneca said?

It is noteworthy that AstraZeneca admitted in the document submitted to the British High Court that its anti-corona vaccine sold under the brand name Covishield may have side effects. There is a risk of thrombosis thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) after taking the vaccine. However, this happens in rare cases.

TTS involves the formation of a clot in the brain or other blood vessels. The number of platelets in the blood decreases. Platelets are small cells that help blood clot, so having too few of them can be dangerous. AstraZeneca's Vaxjavria vaccine is manufactured in India by the Serum Institute of India under the name Covishield.
