As told in the review of the first episode of Netflix's new show 'The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show', Kapil Sharma's magic has not worked at all on OTT. Netflix decided to end the show within five weeks of the first episode airing. The last episode of the show has been shot and according to the information, Netflix has spent around Rs 25 crore on Kapil Sharma in these five episodes alone. These days, Kapil Sharma is also trying to become the host of an Antyakshri program on Colors TV, but given his decreasing brand value, there is a big challenge in getting sponsors for this program.
The OTT game plan of stand-up comedian turned show host and then program producer Kapil Sharma is complete. Netflix decided to stop his new show ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’. According to OTT sources, its last episode was shot and only after that, the set of the show started being removed. Sources reveal that Kapil Sharma has been paid around Rs 5 crore per show for this show, whereas the most praised actor in the show, Sunny Grover, has received only Rs 25 lakh per episode. To get an idea of how much money Netflix has distributed regarding the show, it is enough to know that the revelation of Archana Puran Singh being paid Rs 10 lakh per episode just for laughing and sitting on the sofa has created an uproar in Netflix.
The thing worth noting here is that the Netflix web series team had specially arranged a meeting with the team of The Kapil Sharma Show when its boss Bela Bajaria came to India a week ago. However, it is said that Bela Bajaria herself had announced the decision to close the show while leaving India due to a lack of positive atmosphere among the audience regarding the show despite its huge budget.
With the arrival of Bela Bajaria, a very energetic atmosphere was seen in the Mumbai office of Netflix. The cast of 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' along with the show's host Kapil Sharma along with his co-actors Sunil Grover, Archana Puran Singh, and Rajeev Thakur also got a chance to meet Bela. During this time, Monica Shergill, Vice President (Content) of Netflix in India, and Tanya Bami, Series Head, also participated in the celebration.
Netflix then revealed that 'The Great Indian Kapil Show' has become the first Indian web series to remain in the top 10 list of non-English programs in its global list for four consecutive weeks. It was claimed that the show's dedicated fans have given it a lot of love. Whereas the truth was that the first three episodes of the show were completely rejected by the audience who watched Kapil Sharma's show on TV and to connect people with the show, Kapil Sharma, Krishna Abhishek, and Sunil Grover kept roaming door to door in North India. That too on the money of a sponsoring company.
