Covid-19: Omicron's 'XBB' variant most active in India, INSACOG released a bulletin on Covid

The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) released a bulletin on Monday amid fears of a new wave of the coronavirus pandemic, stating that the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in India and its sub-form 'XBB' are yet to be detected. is also present. According to the bulletin, BA.2.75 and BA.2.10 variants of the corona virus are also present, but their effect is very less.

 

According to INSACOG, a subtype of BA.2.75 is active, especially in North-East India. However, no increase in its severity or hospitalization has been observed so far. The bulletin states that Omicron and its sub-forms are effectively active in India. XBB is the most active sub-format spread across India.

 

Earlier, in the bulletin released on December 5, 2022, INSACOG had said that the infection rate in the country is below 500 per day. The report said that the XBB variant is active in the northern part of India, while the BA.2.75 sub-form is present in the eastern part. Infection rates for BA.2.10 and other subtypes of Omicron were lower last week.

 

173 new cases were found, 207 patients became healthy

In the weekly review report of the Union Health Ministry on Monday, it has been found that the corona infection is below five percent in all the districts. Currently, the national rate of infection is 0.19 percent, while the weekly infection rate is 0.14 percent. On Sunday, the first day of the year, more people recovering from infection were registered than new cases of corona in the country. On Monday, the Union Health Ministry said that on January 1, 173 new cases of corona have been reported in the country, while 207 patients recovered during this period. The number of people infected so far in the country has increased to 4,46,78,822. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment has come down to 2,670.
