
New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) The CPI-M Friday deplored the police action against a demonstration organised here to protest attacks on churches in the capital.
"The peaceful protest (near the Sacred Heart Church Thursday), which included the participation of nuns and priests, was forcibly dispersed by the police with lathis and all were arrested," it said in a statement.
The CPI-M condemned the attitude of Delhi police for "refusing to acknowledge that the vandalism on five churches in Delhi is communally motivated and are hate crimes against a minority community.
"This reflects the stand of the BJP government at the centre, under whom the law and order machinery functions in Delhi," the Communist Party of India-Marxist said.
It sought a Special Investigation Team to investigate these attacks so that the culprits can be brought to justice.
