Jammu-Kashmir Encounter: Five terrorists killed in encounter on LoC in Kupwara, search operation continues; weapon recovered

Five terrorists were killed during an encounter in the Jumagund area of LoC in the Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation of the security forces is still going on. A massive search operation is being conducted on the spot. According to officials, weapons have been recovered from the spot.

 

According to officials, a group of terrorists was reported to be active in the area on Friday morning. After this, a joint team of police and the army conducted a search operation in the area. When the security forces moved towards a hideout, the terrorists started firing. Five terrorists have been reported killed in retaliatory action.

 

Two terrorists were killed on Tuesday

Security forces foiled an infiltration bid in the Machil sector of North Kashmir's Kupwara district and killed two terrorists on Tuesday under Operation Doga Nar. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists. According to the army, the identity and affiliation of the slain terrorists are being ascertained. Both are suspected to be Pakistanis.

 

According to an Army official, inputs were received from J&K Police and other allied agencies about infiltration by terrorists in the Machil sector. Based on this, on the intervening night of 12 and 13 June, the Doga Nar area of the Machil sector was cordoned off by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army personnel.

 

During this, fronts were set up at many places. According to a military official, a search operation was started in the area taking special precautions due to being a forest area. The jawans kept holding the front in the difficult area throughout the night.

 

At the same time, at around one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the soldiers were seen in the area, two terrorists armed with weapons were trying to infiltrate on this side of the LoC. During this, they were challenged by the teams that had already put up a front. In response to this, the intruders started firing. The security forces killed both terrorists in retaliatory action.
