Anything can happen in Delhi politics. For the first time in 27 years, Yamunapar's share in the Delhi government's cabinet has decreased. Out of a total of 16 assembly constituencies, Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra has got a place in the cabinet.
Kapil Mishra contested the election from AAP in 2015
Kapil Mishra contested the election from Karawal Nagar assembly constituency for the first time in the year 2015 from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and defeated BJP's strong leader and four-time consecutive MLA Mohan Singh Bisht.
After this, AAP made Kapil Mishra the Water Minister as soon as he won for the first time. Later Kapil became a rebel and left the Aam Aadmi Party. Later he joined the BJP.
How did Kapil Mishra's popularity increase?
In the year 2020, protests were taking place in Yamunapar regarding NRC. Then Kapil Mishra openly opposed it and emerged as a Hindu leader and his popularity increased. In the year 2025, the BJP again fielded him from Karawal Nagar and he won. Given his experience, this time again he has got a place in the cabinet of the government.
Who got a place in the 1993 BJP government?
In the year 1993, the BJP government was formed for the first time in Delhi. Then Ghonda and Krishna Nagar MLA from Yamunapar were made ministers. After this, two ministers were made from Yamunapar in the Congress rule and three ministers in the AAP government. The share of Yamunapar has decreased in the cabinet of the current BJP government.
BJP has won 11 out of 16 seats, but only one MLA could get a place in the cabinet. Kapil Mishra thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the top leadership for becoming a minister in the BJP government. He said that whatever responsibility the party gives him, he will fulfill it well.
