IIT will help in connecting the students of Ladakh, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, from higher education to employment. Under the guidelines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country's top three IITs (Delhi, Kanpur, and Bombay) have been given the responsibility to pursue engineering, science, and maths courses in Ladakh's undergraduate program.

IIT will conduct internships for the students of these courses. Apart from this, admission will be given to M.Tech. BTech, BE, BSc, and MSc pass-out students can apply for admission to the MTech program till June 30.

According to a senior IIT official, IIT will give benefits in three schemes to the students of engineering, maths, and science courses by pursuing undergraduate programs in colleges of Ladakh. The internship will consist of a short-term internship (one and a half to two months) and a long-term internship (six months). Students doing a Diploma in Polytechnic of Ladakh along with graduation can also join this internship.

The application fee for the short-term internship will be Rs 500 and a scholarship of Rs 15,000 will be available. Whereas for six months internship, fees of Rs 5,000 and a scholarship of Rs 50,000 will be available. Apart from this, the MTech program is a sponsor scheme of IIT for the students of Ladakh. So they do not have to pay any application fee. But students will get a scholarship of Rs 25,000 per month. Along with the online application, the students studying at the college of Ladakh will have to give NOC.
