18 people including five children died
It is noteworthy that at least 18 people, including five children, died and more than a dozen people were injured in the stampede at the station on Saturday night. The accident happened due to the sudden rush of passengers to board the trains going to Prayagraj.
The accident happened on platform number 14 and 15
The incident took place on the foot-overbridge connecting platforms number 14 and 15, where some passengers slipped while alighting, causing panic and leading to this fatal accident. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has ordered an inquiry and constituted a two-member high-level committee to investigate the lapses.
Around 1.49 crore devotees took a dip in Sangam on Sunday.
