DHCBA to take complaints about judicial system

New Delhi, Feb 20 (IANS) The executive committee of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has formed a grievance committee to deal with complaints relating to corruption and misconduct in the judicial system.

For this, a box has been kept at the DHCBA office to enable lawyers to drop their complaints.

DHCBA president Rajiv Khosla said lawyers can approach the grievance committee against any order reflecting any undue favour given to any advocate or kith and kin of any judge in the court proceedings, including the orders relating to assigning of local commissioners.

"We may point out that the members (lawyers) at large are suffering a lot due to rising favouritism and nepotism in our judicial system which over the years has remained unchecked, resulting into frustration amongst the young and meritorious lawyers," a DHCBA notice said.

According to DHCBA, the need for grievance committee was felt after the high court administration failed to bring transparency in appointment of local commissioners despite repeated requests of the bar association.

The bar association had asked for appointment of local commissioners on rotation basis and creation of a link on the official website of the Delhi high court.

However, it has not been implemented yet, it added.

Khosla said members can also give "anonymous complaints but the same should contain the specific information with relevant material".

"The grievance committee after verification of the complaints, shall disclose the details of the case to the members of the bar for redressal and also send the same to the Chief Justice of India as well as the Bar Council of India for necessary action," the DHCBA notice added.
