Effects of tampering with nature, landslide incidents are increasing in the Himalayan region due to many reasons

In Uttarakhand and many parts of Himachal Pradesh, there have been reports of debris falling from the mountains at many places during the last week. Not only this, due to incidents like heavy rains and the breaking of mountain rocks in many places, there have been a lot of adverse effects on life. Many roads in rural areas, including several national highways in this area, were almost closed. More than a hundred news of road closures in Uttarakhand due to continuous landslides and accumulation of debris have come in this rainy season.

The important road connecting with the China border in Chamoli district has been closed for more than two weeks as traffic on the highway between Joshimath and Malari was disrupted due to frequent landslides at Tamkanala and Jumma. The people of Jugju village near the China border have been widely affected by landslides for the past two years. It is the village of the Bhotia tribe and people spend the entire rainy season in caves because the incidents of rocks falling from the mountain with the rains happen almost daily.

A study was conducted by the Department of Disaster Management, the Government of Uttarakhand, and the World Bank in the year 2018. According to this study, more than 6300 places in this state were identified as landslide zones. A related report states that the ongoing development projects worth thousands of crores in the state are being built by cutting down the mountains or destroying the forests and due to this the number of landslide zones is increasing.

Build on a mountain: Like building a mountain that takes several thousand years, our society destroys it in the name of gathering materials for those constructions which last hardly a hundred years. Mountains are not just piles of stone, they are the means of determining the condition and direction of the forest, water, and air of the area. While the government is careless towards the mountain, the displeasure of the mountain is also coming to the fore from time to time. If a tree is essential for life on earth, then the existence of a mountain is very important for the tree. Water comes from trees, food from water, and life from food. The worldwide problem of global warming and climate change has also been born from the forests that have been destroyed by the mountains. It is ironic whether the mountain is a tourist destination for the common Indian or that the mountain in his town is a dreadfully neglected structure. In the name of development, unaccounted tourism in the hill states disturbed the account of nature, then the mountain itself was targeted for raising land or raising concrete for the construction of wide roads for the vehicles coming in the name of development in the villages and towns.

It is noteworthy that the Himalayas are the main source of water in the Indian subcontinent. In the report on water conservation prepared by the Department of Science and Technology of NITI Aayog three years ago, it was told that the amount of water in 60 percent of the streams originating from the Himalayas is decreasing day by day. Global warming or warming of the earth, carbon emissions, climate change, and as a result, the serious crisis on the glaciers working for the cooling of the earth and the threat to the existence of the entire earth due to it is no longer limited to just a few environmental experts. Huh. Other aspects of some such claims also began to emerge that soon the Himalayan glaciers would melt, due to which the water in the rivers would increase and as a result, many cities and villages would be submerged. At the same time, due to the destruction of the umbrella that holds the rising temperature of the earth, there will be terrible drought, flood, and heat. Obviously, in such a situation, human life will also be in danger.

Not only is the Himalayas mountain rising every year, but there is also geological upheaval going on in it. Here trees play a big role in keeping the land tied, which is the only way to prevent erosion and collapse of the mountain. It is important to know that in the Himalayan seismic zone, the Indian plate collides with the Eurasian plate, and due to this stress energy is stored at the plate boundary, which causes the crystals to shrink and deformation the rocks. This energy is exposed in the form of earthquakes through weak zones and faults. Due to the destruction or explosion of the mountain or tampering with its natural nature, it is the result of continuous earthquakes in the Himalayan region. These earthquakes are often feared to affect the country's capital Delhi. Due to the change in the composition of the Himalayas, sometimes there is a crisis of water in the Yamuna. In fact, due to the blocking of more tunnels or continuous streams, the mountain is not able to remain in its natural form and its far-reaching consequences are coming out in the form of various natural disasters. The Himalayas and adjoining areas are witnessing widespread side effects due to rock fall, landslides, and heavy rains, which should be understood as the wrath of nature.
