The Election Commission will hold a press conference today i.e. Monday at noon. In this, elections to be held in five states can be announced. It is noteworthy that by the end of this year, elections are to be held in five states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram. There are a total of 679 assembly seats in the five states. At present there is a BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, Congress is in rule in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. K in Telangana. There is a Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) government headed by Chandrashekhar Rao. Zoramthanga's Mizo National Front is the ruling party in Mizoram.
In 2018, the dates for the assembly elections of the five states were announced on October 6. Elections in Chhattisgarh were conducted in two phases. Voting was held in one phase in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. The election results of all five states came together on December 11.
Electoral equations of the five states
1. Madhya Pradesh- The last assembly elections in the state were held on 28 November 2018. A total of 2,899 candidates were in the fray for this election. According to the Election Commission, there were an average of 12 candidates per constituency. The number of voters who voted in the state was 3,78,54,811. Of these, 1,99,94,060 men, 178,60,401 women, and 350 third genders had exercised their franchise. Voting for men was 75.84%, for women 74.01% and the total voting was 74.97%.
The election results in MP came on 11 December 2018. In the 230-member assembly, Congress had 114 seats, two less than the majority. At the same time, the BJP got 109 seats. However, it was also interesting that the BJP got 41% votes while Congress got 40.9% votes. BSP got two seats while others got five seats. After the results, Congress formed the government with BSP, SP, and others. In this way, after 15 years, a government was formed in the state under the leadership of Congress and Kamal Nath became the Chief Minister.
Now if we talk about the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly, its preparations are in full swing. Meanwhile, the final publication of the voter list in the state has been done. There has been an increase of about 17 lakh voters in this. The number of general voters in the state has increased to 5 crore 60 lakh 60 thousand 925. In this, male voters are 2 crores 88 lakh 25 thousand 607 and female voters are 2 crores 72 lakh 33 thousand 945 and third gender are 1373. A total of 5 crore 61 thousand 36 thousand 229 voters are registered in the state. 22 lakh 36 thousand 564 first-time voters in the age group of 18-19 years will cast their vote for the first time in the upcoming assembly elections. At the same time, the number of voters aged 80 or above is 6 lakh 53 thousand 640. 5124 voters have crossed the age of 100 years. This time in the elections there are 945 women voters for every 1000 men.
Meanwhile, the ruling party BJP has so far declared 79 candidates for the assembly elections. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has also declared its 39 candidates. Congress has not released any list yet.
2. Rajasthan- The last assembly elections in Rajasthan were held on 28 November 2018. A total of 2,294 candidates were in the fray for this election. On average, 11 candidates were in the fray per constituency in the state. The number of voters who voted was 3,53,90,876. Of these, 1,83,44,351 men, 1,70,46,450 women, and 75 third genders had exercised their franchise. Voting for men was 73.49%, for women 74.67% and the total voting was 74.06%.
The election results in the state were declared on 11 December 2018. Except for the Ramgarh seat of Alwar, voting was held on the remaining 199 seats. The election for Ramgarh's seat was postponed due to the death of BSP candidate Laxman Singh. In this election, Congress won 99 seats, defeating BJP.
Along with this, the tradition of change of power every five years continued in the state. BJP got 73 seats, Mayawati's party BSP got six seats and others got 20 seats. Congress needed 101 MLAs for the majority. Congress collected the necessary data with the help of independents and others. With this, the state returned to power and Ashok Gehlot became the Chief Minister.
Now if we talk about the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly, preparations for it have intensified. Meanwhile, the final publication of the voter list in the state has been done. According to the final list, 5 crore 26 lakh 80 thousand 545 voters have been registered in the state. Of these, 2 crore 73 lakh 58 thousand 627 voters are male and 2 crore 51 lakh 79 thousand 422 are female voters.
There are 11.78 lakh voters above 80 years of age and 17,241 voters above 100 years of age registered in the voter list. 5.61 lakh specially eligible persons are registered as voters. Home voting facilities will be provided to these voters by the Election Commission of India.
Similarly, 606 transgender voters are also registered. Talking about the polling stations of the state, 601 new polling stations have been created and 32 polling stations have been adjusted. 569 polling stations have been increased. The number of polling stations has increased from 51 thousand 187 to 51 thousand 756.
3. Chhattisgarh- The last assembly elections in the state were conducted in two phases. A total of 1,269 candidates were in the fray for this election. On average, 14 candidates were in the fray per constituency in the state. The number of voters who voted was 1,42,11,333. Of these, 71,36,626 men, 70,74,636 women, and 191 third genders had exercised their franchise. Voting for men was 76.58%, for women 76.33% and the total voting was 76.45%.
In 2018, two phases of voting were conducted in the state. The first phase of voting was held on 12 November 2018 and the second phase of voting was held on 20 November 2018. Chhattisgarh's election results came on 11 December. When the election results came, Congress got 68 seats and BJP 15 seats in the 90-member assembly. Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) had won five seats and two seats went to BSP.
Now if we talk about the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly, preparations for it have intensified. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has released the final publication of the voter list. According to the list, there are a total of two crore three lakh 60 thousand 240 voters in the state. These include 1 crore 1 lakh 20 thousand 830 male voters, 1 crore 2 lakh 39 thousand 410 female voters, and 790 transgender voters.
4. Telangana- The last elections in the state were held on December 7, 2018. A total of 1,821 candidates were in the fray for this election. On average, 15 candidates were in the fray per constituency in the state. The number of voters who voted was 2,05,99,739. Of these, 1,03,28,078 men, 1,02,71,470 women, and 191 third genders had exercised their franchise. Voting for men was 72.90%, for women 73.86% and the total voting was 73.37%. The number of polling stations was 32,814.
In 2018, elections were held in the state on 7 December 2018. Telangana election results came on 11 December. In this election, in the 119-member assembly, BRS got 88 seats, Congress 19, IMIM seven, TDP two, BJP one, and AIFB one seat. Apart from this, an independent candidate had won one seat.
Meanwhile, the final voter list for the state has been published by the Election Commission. Out of over 3.17 crore voters here, male and female voters are 1,58,71,493 and 1,58,43,339 respectively, while 2,557 belong to the third gender. The total number of voters in the state increased by 5.8 percent with an increase of 17,42,470 voters earlier this year.
5. Mizoram- The last elections in the state were held on 28 November 2018. A total of 209 candidates were in the fray for this election. An average of five candidates were in the fray per constituency in the state. The number of voters who voted was 6,20,008. Of these, 2,99,746 men and 3,20,262 women had exercised their franchise. Voting for men was 78.92%, for women 81.09% and the total voting was 80.03%. The number of polling stations was 1,170.
The last elections were held on 28 November 2018. In this election, MNF had won 27 seats in the 40-member assembly. Congress won four seats, while BJP won one seat. Apart from this, independent candidates had won eight seats. With this, the MNF government was formed in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Zoramthanga.
Meanwhile, the final voter list for the state has been published by the Election Commission. Out of 8,51,895 voters here, male and female voters are 4,12,969 and 4,38,925 respectively, while a third belong to the gender. There are 4,884 male and 89 female service voters, out of which there are a total of 4,973 service voters. This time there are 1,276 polling stations in Mizoram.
