The Union Health Ministry has rejected the fact that youths are more vulnerable in the second wave of Corona. ICMR Chief Balaram Bhargava said that the fact that youths are more vulnerable is wrong. Presenting the figures, he said that in the second wave, people below 30 have only one percent infection. However, he made it clear that this time they need for oxygen is higher than the Corona wave in 2020. He said that the percentage of patients admitted on oxygen has increased. Last time 40 percent of the patients needed oxygen, but this time the figure is 54 percent. But one thing of relief is that the need for ventilators is lessening.
Apart from Balram Bhargava at the press conference of the Health Ministry, VK Paul of NITI Aayog and Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS were also present. The ministry said that more than 70 percent of the people affected by corona in both waves are above 40 years of age. Balaram Bhargava said that even now corona remains a greater danger for older people. He said that compared to the previous wave, the incidence of youths has increased only slightly. He said that in last year's wave, 4.2 percent of people aged 0 to 19 years were suffering from corona, while this time the figure is 5.8%.
The number of young people getting infected has increased marginally over the last year
Similarly, the rate of infection of people between the ages of 20 and 40 has increased from 23.7% to 25.5%. Besides, there has been an increase in the number of unidentified corona victims. Not only this, the need for oxygen is increasing this year. Talking about deaths, the figure is the same as last year. Meanwhile, advising people to avoid panic, the Health Ministry has said that the victims without symptoms or minor symptoms can be treated at home. There is no need to admit such people to the hospital.
People out of danger can be discharged from the hospital soon
Apart from this, people who are not seriously suffering can be discharged a little in advance on the advice of doctors. At the same time, removing the concerns over the lack of oxygen, the Ministry said that its supply has been increased. In the second wave, there is not much need for a ventilator, but demand has increased due to a sudden increase in the number of infected people.
