Farmers Protest in Mohali: Farmers' organizations in Punjab have announced to end their strike after a three-hour-long meeting with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. After the meeting with the farmers, Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that CM Bhagwant Mann will talk to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Bhakra Beas Management Board issue. MSP will be given on Maize and CM has promised that Basmati will be bought at a good price.

The minister said, "The CM has told the farmer leaders that now they do not need to sit on dharna. Give us some time and we will sort everything out."

Let us inform you that farmers are protesting for various demands including a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal in case of low wheat yield and to start sowing of paddy in the entire Punjab from June 10. Farmers' protest is going on at the Chandigarh-Mohali border.

Farmers park their vehicles on the road near YPS Chowk in Mohali. The farmers spent the night on the Chandigarh-Mohali highway. The protesting farmers have reached there fully prepared and they have other items including rations, beds, fans, coolers, utensils, and LPG cylinders.

Earlier, the farmers warned the government that if the chief minister did not hold a meeting with them by Wednesday, they would break the barrier and move towards Chandigarh to hold an indefinite sit-in.

Among their various demands, the farmers want a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal of wheat, as the scorching heat conditions have reduced their yield and shrunk wheat grains. Farmers are also against the Punjab government's decision to allow the sowing of paddy from June 18 to reduce the electricity burden and conserve groundwater. The protesters want the government to allow them to sow paddy from June 10.

Farmers also want to get the notification issued for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of maize and moong. They are also demanding the state government reduce the charges for increasing the power load from Rs 4,800 to Rs 1,200 and release the pending cane payment. The protesters are also opposing the installation of smart electricity meters.
