The Supreme Court on Thursday heard the petition of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. Singh has filed a petition seeking protection. On this, the court said that Parambir Singh cannot get protection at the moment, first, he has to tell where he is. The court has given him time till November 22, Parambir Singh will have to inform him about his whereabouts on the next hearing.

The Supreme Court said, "Singh's plea for security will be heard only after the states whether he is in the country or outside." The Supreme Court has asked Singh's lawyer to inform it in the next hearing on November 22. The petition seeking protection on behalf of Singh has been filed through power of attorney.

The court said, 'On one hand you are asking for security, while no one knows where you are. Suppose you are sitting abroad and taking legal recourse through power of attorney, what will happen. If this is the case and you want the court to decide in your favor then you have to come to India.

The court said until the court will not be told where you are, your petition will not be heard. Justice MM Sundaresh was also included in the bench hearing the matter. A magisterial court in Mumbai has declared them absconders in the extortion case registered against Singh and some other police officials of the city. Singh had last visited his office in May this year after which he went on leave. The state police had told the Bombay High Court last month that it had no information about where they were.
