Petrol, diesel, and CNG prices are on the rise every day. Due to this, the common man is getting trapped all-around in the web of inflation. It is being hit from the kitchen to the journey as well. CNG prices have increased by over 33 percent in the last three months. At the same time, petrol and diesel prices have increased by 10.48 percent and 11.53 percent. Its effect is visible on every kilometer of travel. After the scorching heat, it is difficult to run AC in the vehicles.
On the other hand, the prices of kitchen items are also increasing due to an increase in operating costs. If we look at the figures, between January and April, an increase of Rs 10 per liter has been registered in petrol and diesel. While the price of CNG has increased by Rs 18 per kg. This has had an impact on the operating cost of the vehicles. The operating cost of CNG vehicles has increased nearly three times as compared to petrol and diesel.
Delhi currently has over 1.25 crore registered vehicles. In these, CNG autos, taxis, cabs, and buses are being used as public transport. Due to the continuous rise in mercury, the effect of price hikes has started deepening due to the reduction in mileage due to running AC in vehicles. Freight carriers are also being affected by the hike in fuel prices. The rising inflation along with freight traffic is also affecting the transport traders due to the increase in the price of diesel. Their losses are increasing continuously due to the increase in prices.
To avoid this, transport traders are also increasing the freight traffic. If any product has to be transported for a long distance, then the time is taken and the effect of the continuous increase is being suffered by the businessmen. According to Rajendra Kapoor, president of the Delhi Goods Transport Organization, the increase in diesel prices should be fixed every month. This will make it easier for them to fix the freight fare. The increase in diesel prices in the last three months has increased the financial burden by more than 10 percent. This has increased the cost of transportation of products, as a result, the inflation graph is also climbing along with the price of fuel.
Public transport can provide relief
According to Ananya Das, an expert at the Center for Science and Environment, public transport will have to be adopted to avoid the continuous increase in fuel prices. If it is necessary to have a private vehicle, then you can switch to e-vehicles. The initial cost will be one time, but the cost of maintenance apart from charging for the whole year is very less. Public transport may get a new impetus by reducing the use of private vehicles slightly due to rising fuel prices.
