In 2017 too, elections were announced on different dates in both states, but the counting of votes took place simultaneously on December 18.
Elections for 182 seats in Gujarat
There is a total of 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Of these, 40 seats are reserved. 13 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 27 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and tribal society. In the 2017 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party got 99 seats, and the Congress had 77 seats. Two seats were won by the Tribal Party of India, one seat by the NCP, and independents won the remaining three seats. In Gujarat, there has been a contest between the BJP and the Congress in the elections for a long time, but this time the Aam Aadmi Party is also trying hard in the field for the assembly elections.
The term of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will end on February 18.
