The news of the death of Zimbabwe's great cricketer Heath Streak turned out to be a rumor when Henry Olanga dismissed it. Earlier, Henry had confirmed the news of his death by tweeting. Now again by posting a post on social media, this news has been called fake. It may be noted that according to former teammates of Streak, the former Zimbabwe captain has been fighting a battle with cancer for a long time. Streak ranks among the greatest Zimbabwean cricketers of all time.
Heath Streak also captained Zimbabwe between 2000 and 2004. In an international career spanning 12 years, Streak played 65 Tests and 189 ODIs. During this, he single-handedly raised the prestige of Zimbabwe cricket on several occasions. He is the only Zimbabwean cricketer to have taken 100 Test wickets.
Information was given by Henry Olanga
Former Zimbabwe fast bowler and Heath Streak's friend Henry Olanga gave this information through his social media account. Olanga tweeted, “The sad news has come that Heath Streak has now gone to another world. May the soul of the great cricketer of Zimbabwe cricket rest in peace. The greatest all-rounder we have ever come across. It has been an honor to play with you. See you on the other side when my bowling spell is over.
Scored the only Test century in his career
Heath Streak was strongly known for his accurate line length and economical bowling. But he continued to rock with the bat as well. Playing in the middle order, Streak scored 1990 Tests and 2943 ODI runs. An innings of 127 against the West Indies at Harare was the only century of his Test career.
Career got a break like this
Heath Streak's career started in 1993 when he made his debut against Pakistan. In the second test played in Rawalpindi, Streak proved his mettle and took 8 wickets. Streak was forced to retire in 2005 as his two-year contract as Warwickshire captain was due to expire in 2006. But due to poor form, he had to retire early. In 2007, Streak joined the Indian Cricket League and his international career came to an end.
what did you do after retirement?
Heath Streak took over the coaching duties after his retirement. He worked with Zimbabwe, Scotland, Bangladesh, Gujarat Lions, and Kolkata Knight Riders. His career was ruined when the ICC banned Streak for eight years for anti-corruption violations. Despite such a huge setback, Streak's legacy as a cricketer and captain is incomparable. The cricket world is missing its star.
