The impact of franchise-based T20 leagues starting one after the other across the world is increasing on the players. International cricketers\' body FICA said in its latest survey that 49% of players are ready to give up the central contract of their country\'s cricket board for the T20 league.

FICA surveyed more than 400 players from 11 countries. Many more surprising things have come to light in this survey. Know about everyone one by one.

Top T20 league in the country for 49%

49% of cricketers said- \'They can also reject the central contract of the country to play franchise leagues like IPL, BBL. If they get more money than their country in these leagues, then they would prefer to play in the league.

Recently, New Zealand\'s Trent Boult withdrew his name from the central contract, due to which he was not made a part of the team in the ODI and T20 series against India. Bolt\'s teammate Martin Guptill was not selected due to poor form. After which he went to play foreign league. The effect of this mentality has been seen in other star players. Due to this sometimes the players and sometimes their country has suffered.

Stokes skips ODI, Moeen skips Test

79% of the cricketers said- \'There should be a limit for playing international cricket in a year.\' There has been a lot of cricket being played in the last few years. England Test captain Ben Stokes took retirement from ODIs to manage the workload of cricket. His fellow player Moeen Ali also quit playing the Test in 2021.

Stokes had said- \'It is no longer possible for him to play all three formats. His body has started responding to too much cricket. At the same time, Moin had said- \'One Day cricket is slowly ending. They are afraid that this format may not end in a few years.

Andre Russell left out of the World Cup squad

The 2-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies could not qualify in the Super-12 stage of the last T20 World Cup. The reason came to light that West Indies did not include players like Global T20 stars Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in their team. The board said that these players do not give priority to the country for playing in foreign leagues. That is why he was not selected for the national team.

Cricket cannot be a permanent career

About two-thirds (69%) of the cricketers are given central contracts of 12 months only by their countries. He is afraid that if the form is not there, then his contract will not be extended and he will not get the money. In such a situation, he is afraid of selecting cricket as a permanent career. At the same time, almost half (46%) of the cricketers said that their country\'s cricket board does not treat them professionally.

Now survey some positive things – ODI World Cup biggest tournament, Test is still the best

According to the survey, 54% of the cricketers believe that the 50-over ODI World Cup is still the biggest tournament in cricket. Similarly, in the 2018/19 survey, 84% of cricketers rated the ODI World Cup as the biggest tournament. These cricketers have placed ODI World Cup above tournaments like T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, and World Test Championship.

74% of the players described the Test as the best format of cricket. He placed the 5-day game above the 20 and 50 over games. However, in the 2018/19 survey, 82% of players rated Tests as the best format. In such a situation, the popularity of Test cricket also seems to be decreasing. But, after the arrival of the World Test Championship, its popularity is expected to increase.

Players still face racism

14% of cricketers faced discrimination due to color or caste at some point in their careers. At the same time, 13% of the players have received threats from the board and league owners in their cricketing careers. That is, he was threatened to be dropped from the team after not performing well.

Indian players are not included in this survey

The Association of Indian Cricketers (BCCI) is not associated with FICA. That\'s why the opinion of Indian cricketers was not included in this survey. The players of Pakistan are also not involved in this. Apart from these, players from all other cricket-playing countries have participated in this survey. Cricketers from big countries like England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies are also included.
