'I leave it to PM Modi to decide what to do with Bangladesh', Yunus shocked by Donald Trump's announcement!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to America. Here he discussed trade, defense, and India-US relations with US President Donald Trump. During the bilateral meeting, both leaders also talked about other global issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of Bangladesh in front of Trump. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that PM Modi shared concerns with Donald Trump on the developments in Bangladesh and asked how India sees this situation.

Trump gave a free hand.

On the other hand, Trump denied any role of the US government in the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh. He said that I leave Bangladesh to Prime Minister Modi. Now it is clear from Trump's statement that India can take a decision openly in the matter of Bangladesh.

Bangladeshis protest outside the White House

Bangladeshis held a big protest near the White House on Thursday. The protesters demanded the end of the 'unconstitutional' rule of Muhammad Yunus. The protest was organized by the Awami League and its allied organizations. The protesters also demanded the protection of minorities. Eight percent of Bangladesh's population is Hindu. But after Sheikh Hasina left the country, fundamentalists are constantly targeting Hindus.

Sheikh Hasina's extradition is a bilateral issue.

Bangladesh is constantly demanding the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India. The United Nations said that the extradition of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a bilateral issue. The United Nations Human Rights Office in Geneva released a report. It states that more than 1,400 people may have been killed during protests in Bangladesh in July and August 2024.

Those responsible should be brought to justice.

UN official Rory Mungoven said in a press conference, "All those responsible for serious violations of human rights and possible crimes against humanity should be brought to justice. When asked if the United Nations wants Hasina's return, Mungoven said that the issue of extradition is a bilateral process.
