Devdutt Padikkal has become the fifth Indian player to debut in the Test series against England. Earlier, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel and Akashdeep also got a chance to debut in this series.

 

At the same time, in the year 2000, 4 players made their Test debut in the same series on their soil. In the year 2000, a 2-match Test series was played between India and South Africa. Murali Karthik, Wasim Jaffer, Mohammad Kaif and Nikhil Chopra got a chance to debut in this series.

 

Playing for Karnataka, Devdutt became the 314th player to play Test for India. Devdutt has played only 2 T20 matches for India in T20 International. At the same time, he has played 31 first class and 30 List A matches for Karnataka.
