Will Suryakumar Yadav miss the first two matches for MI? Big update on star batsman's fitness before IPL 2024

Before IPL 2024, a big update is coming out regarding Mumbai Indians' star batsman Suryakumar Yadav. While talking to the news agency, a BCCI source said that it is not yet clear whether Surya will be able to play the first two matches of Mumbai Indians or not.

 

This has dealt a big blow to Mumbai Indians. Let us tell you that IPL 2024 is to start on March 22, in which the first match will be between CSK and RCB.

Suryakumar Yadav may miss the first two matches of IPL 2024

The second match of IPL 2024 will be played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans (MI vs GT) on March 23. Even before this, there is doubt over Mumbai Indians' explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav playing in the initial matches. Let us tell you that Surya has not yet fully recovered from the injury and neither NCA nor BCCI has given any information regarding his fitness.

 

According to a BCCI source, Suryakumar may miss the opening matches for Mumbai Indians. Let us tell you that Surya can return to the field only through IPL in April. On April 1, Mumbai Indians will face Rajasthan Royals in their third match of the league stage. Surya is believed to be returning in this match.

 

Surya was injured last year, and underwent surgery in London

Suryakumar Yadav was last seen playing international cricket for India in December 2023. During this time, he got injured while fielding in the T20 match against South Africa. He had a leg injury, after which he underwent hernia surgery and then started rehab at NCA. Recently, Surya himself was seen sharing his fitness video on his Instagram.

Let us tell you that Suryakumar Yadav is the number 1 batsman in the ICC T20 rankings, who has scored 2144 runs at a strike rate of 171 while playing 60 T20 matches, which also includes 4 T20I centuries. Whereas, if we talk about Surya's IPL career, he has scored 3249 runs while playing 139 matches, in which he has scored 1 century and 21 half-centuries. Surya's highest score in IPL has been 103 runs not out.
