IND vs ENG: Root's poor form continues in Asia, Bumrah was sent to the pavilion for the ninth time in the Test; Bairstow failed again

The third match of the five-match Test series between India and England is going on at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. India won the toss and batted first and scored 445 runs in its first innings. In reply, England's first innings continues. Team India suffered a big blow before the third day when Ravichandran Ashwin suddenly pulled out of the third Test due to family reasons. In such a situation, on the third day, Team India came on the field with four bowlers. However, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah did not let Ashwin miss the first one and a half hours. While Bumrah sent Joe Root to the pavilion, Kuldeep trapped Jonny Bairstow and Ben Duckett with his spin.

 

Root was out for the ninth time

Today (Saturday) England started playing at 207 runs for two wickets. Then Duckett and Root were at the crease. After some time, Bumrah gave him the first blow of the day. While attempting a reverse lap on Bumrah's ball, Root was caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at second slip. He could score 18 runs. Bumrah sent Root to the pavilion for the ninth time in the Test. At the same time, in this series, Root became the victim of Bumrah for the third time in five innings.

Could score 308 runs in the last 12 innings of the Root Test. Of these, two have scores of 50+, but not a single century. On this tour of India, Root has been able to score 70 runs in five innings at an average of 14. His highest score was 29 runs which he made in the first innings of the first Test in Hyderabad.

When Root came to India to play Test last time i.e. in 2021, he was the captain of the team. Then he played an innings of 218 runs in the first test of the series in Chennai. However, since then he has played 17 innings on Asian soil but has not been able to do anything special. In these 17 innings, he has scored 345 runs at an average of 20.29. He has scored a half-century once but does not have any century in his name. During this period, Root's highest score was 73 runs.

 

Root is a flop in front of Bumrah

Root has played 21 innings against Bumrah so far in Tests. In this, he has been able to score only 254 runs at an average of 28.22. Bumrah sent him to the pavilion nine times. Australia's Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood hold the record for dismissing Root the most number of times in Tests. Cummins has sent this legendary batsman to the pavilion 11 times and Hazlewood has sent him to the pavilion 10 times. After this comes Bumrah's turn. Ashwin has dismissed Root six times.

 

Bairstow's flop show continues

At the same time, Jonny Bairstow is also out of form since last year's ODI World Cup. He has been able to score 420 runs in the last 14 innings in Test. This includes three 50+ scores, but not a single century. His highest score has been 99 not out. At the same time, from 2021 till now, he has been able to score 265 runs in 13 Test innings at an average of 22.08 on Asian soil. His highest score has been 47 runs. During this period he has not been able to open the account four times.
