After the defeat in the Lord's Test, once again the discussions have gained momentum whether fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will play in the fourth Test or he will be given rest, but this time the Indian team management is not in the mood to take any kind of risk. However, the decision to play him will be taken at the last moment.

However, England captain Stokes ignored workload management and led the team to a 22-run victory over India at Lord's. Stokes bowled two consecutive spells of 9.2 and 10 overs. Coach McCullum was sending him messages on the field that he should take care of his body, but Stokes did not stop for the team. Ten Doeschate refused to compare the two cricketers on this matter.
