Senior citizens in the country have to struggle a lot in getting an insurance claim. It has been found in a survey that insurance companies rush to give claims to them and it takes a lot of time. Whereas these citizens also get insurance much more expensive than the common people. Insurance brokerage SecureNow said in a survey that citizens below 60 years of age get an insurance claim sooner. But for older people, it takes a week longer. The survey was conducted among 1,250 customers taking health insurance. Of this, 576 were senior citizens.

The claim is received in 28 days

It has been found in the survey that the common people get the insurance claim in 23.2 days. But for those above 60 years of age, it takes 28 days to get it. Though the insurance companies are continuously taking measures to get the claim faster to the senior citizens, still they have not got success in this.

fail to detect illness early

The survey revealed that the delay in getting an insurance claim for senior citizens is because they are not able to inform the insurance company soon after hospitalization. Also, they stay in the hospital for a long time. Apart from this, the cost of treatment is high. In such a situation, it takes time for the insurance companies to settle all this.

6 times the higher premium

If a 30-year-old person buys some health insurance and his premium is Rs 10,365, then the same premium for senior citizens becomes Rs 31,905. For a person of 45 years, this premium becomes Rs 15,239. A person of 75 years has to pay Rs 66,368 for this. In such a situation, it is also a difficult task for senior citizens to select the right insurance product. It has been found in the survey that there are more delays in getting claims for diseases like diarrhea and cancer.
