Manmohan Singh used to tell me repeatedly, Aseem, I do not like to travel in this car, my car is this (Maruti). I used to explain that Sir, this car is not for your luxury, its security features are such that the SPG has taken it. Whenever the convoy passed in front of Maruti, he would always look at it to his heart's content. As if repeating the resolution that I am a middle-class person and it is my job to worry about the common man. The car worth crores belongs to the PM, this is my Maruti.
The central government withdrew the Special Protection Group (SPG) security given to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2019. Then the Union Home Ministry said, after taking inputs from all the agencies and doing regular evaluation, it has been decided to give Z Plus security to Manmohan Singh.
