Aditya-L1, sent by India to collect important information about the Sun, has started its work. Now the payload on the satellite – Aditya Solar Wind Particle Experiment has started working. ISRO said that this payload is working normally.
What equipment is involved in the experiment?
Aditya Solar Wind Particle Experiment (ASPEX) consists of two state-of-the-art instruments Solar Wind Ion Spectrometer (SWIS) and Suprathermal and Energetic Particle Spectrometer (STEPS). The STEPS tool was launched on September 10, 2023. Whereas, the SWIS tool was launched a month ago i.e. on November 2, and has performed well. According to ISRO, the instrument has successfully measured solar wind ions, mainly protons and alpha particles.
ISRO says that through this it has gained a lot of information about solar winds. With this, scientists will know the reason behind solar winds and their impact on the Earth. With this, a lot of information about space weather will also be known.
Launched in September
Indian space agency ISRO launched India's first solar mission Aditya-L1 on September 2. ISRO successfully launched Aditya L1 from the PSLV C57 launch vehicle. The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Like Chandrayaan-3, this mission will first revolve around the Earth and then it will rapidly fly towards the sun.
will help the most in the study of stars
According to ISRO, the Sun is the nearest star to us. It can help us the most in the study of stars. The information obtained from this will help in understanding other stars, our galaxy, and many secrets and rules of astronomy. The Sun is about 15 crore km away from our Earth. Although Aditya L1 is covering only one percent of this distance, even after covering such a distance, it will give us much information about the Sun, which is not possible to know from the Earth.
