
This year the country is going to celebrate 78th Independence Day on Thursday. On Wednesday, a day before Independence Day, the government announced the President's Medal. This year a total of 1037 personnel of police, fire brigade, home guard civil security, and correctional services will be given gallantry and service medals.
The government awards the President's Medal for Gallantry and Medal for Gallantry every year based on indomitable courageous gallantry and special acts of gallantry in saving life and property, preventing crime, or arresting criminals respectively.
Home Ministry released names
The names of the people who will get the medal have been released by the Home Ministry. ADG Surendra Kumar Bhagal, DIG Kalpana Saxena, Inspector Sugandha Upadhyay, and SI Ramveer Singh from Uttar Pradesh will be given President's Medal.
