Joe Biden and PM Modi will meet leaders of Pacific island countries, future strategy will be discussed

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape said that US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join leaders of the Pacific Islands next month for a historic future strategy meeting. Marpe said in a statement that this would be the first historic meeting, where the future strategy of global superpowers is going to be held in the largest country of the Pacific Ocean.

Marpe wants to attract foreign investors

Indeed, Papua New Guinea is being welcomed by China and the US, and its allies as Marpe seeks to attract foreign investors. In the year 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the country. In response to China\'s security deal with the Solomon Islands last year, Washington has stepped up its efforts to counter Beijing\'s growing influence in the region. The ten Pacific island nations and China failed to reach a comprehensive trade and security agreement. Australia and China have been major donors of aid and infrastructure.

Marpe invited to visit Beijing

The United States and Australia are negotiating security agreements with Papua New Guinea and Marpe has been invited to visit Beijing this year. Marpe said- When it comes to Indo-Pacific dialogue, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific cannot be ignored. With our combined forest and marine areas we are the world\'s largest carbon sink and our oceans and skies are among the largest on Earth. Explain that 30 million square kilometers (10 million square miles) of ocean covers the 18 countries and territories of the Pacific Islands Forum.

Marpe invited Biden

Amid worsening cyclones and rising sea levels, the region\'s leaders say climate change is their biggest security threat. Modi and Biden will stop in Papua New Guinea on their way to Australia for the May 24 summit of the Quad. This also includes Japan and Australia. Marpe said he had invited Biden when they met in Washington last year. He was very honored that he had kept his promise to me to visit our country.
