New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS) The state unit of the BJP Monday accused AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of "misleading" the city's traders by claiming that raids against commercial establishments went down during the party's 49-day rule in Delhi.
Citing Right to Information (RTI) data, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Satish Upadhyay said that between Jan 5 and Feb 14, 2014, when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was at the helm in Delhi, 151 raids were conducted on commercial establishments.
"Of these, 51 raids were conducted from Jan 5 to 31 and when it became clear that their government was not going to last long in Delhi, another 100 raids were conducted between Feb 1 and 14, about 10 raids daily," Upadhyay said.
Upadhyay further said that the claims about value added tax (VAT) revenue collected by the AAP government were also false.
"AAP's claim of collecting Rs. 5,666 crore as VAT is completely false. According to the VAT department, only Rs. 2033 crore were collected by the Kejriwal government," he said.
"He (Kejriwal) is misleading the traders of Delhi," he added.
The AAP chief had Dec 29 held a rally to woo the traders of Delhi in Nehru Place where he had said that raids against traders had gone down under his watch while the revenue collected had increased significantly.
