The Punjab government on Wednesday night removed the 13-month-long farmers' protest at Shambhu and Khanauri border with the help of police. The police demolished the platforms built on Khanauri and Shambhu borders using bulldozers and the work of uprooting the tents is also going on. Actually, the farmers were sitting on a dharna here since February 13, 2024. Earlier, the meeting of the central government and farmer organizations in Chandigarh on Wednesday remained inconclusive.

After the meeting ended, more than 300 farmers, including farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal, and Sarwan Singh Pandher, who were returning to Khanauri and Shambhu border, were taken into custody. Now the Amritsar-Ambala-Delhi National Highway will be opened on Thursday. However, the barricading put up on the Shambhu and Khanauri border has not been removed yet.

During the police action, there was a fierce scuffle between the farmers and the police, in which the turbans of some farmer leaders came off. The government has deployed about 5000 policemen on the Shambhu and Khanauri border. At the same time, internet services have also been shut down in the border area. Farmers took to the streets at different places in the state in protest against the police action. All farmer leaders, including the opposition, have opposed this action of the police.

Farmers' protest removed from Shambhu border, but the movement will continue: Tejveer Singh.

The farmers' protest at the Haryana-Punjab Shambhu border ended after administrative action, but the farmer leaders have made it clear that the movement is not over yet.

Farmer leader Tejveer Singh said that the police have not been successful in arresting all the farmer leaders and further strategy will be announced soon. He alleged that this action has been taken by the Punjab government at the behest of the central government.

Haryana administration continues to remove barricades.

The Haryana administration has started the process of removing the barricades on the Shambhu border. These barricades, which were earlier installed for security reasons, are now being gradually removed.

Earlier, the Haryana Police had removed several concrete barricades with the help of bulldozers. According to administrative officials, it was decided to remove the barricades after reviewing the situation.

Farmers' protest against government action, will surround all DC offices.

Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee leader Satnam Singh Pannu has said that the Central and Punjab governments will have to bear the brunt of the action taken against the farmers. He announced that farmers will protest outside the DC offices in all the districts today.

There is anger among the agitators after the removal of farmers from Shambhu border. Targeting the government, Satnam Singh Pannu said that efforts are being made to suppress the voice of the farmers, but the farmers are not going to bow down.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was transferred from the hospital.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is being transferred from the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Jalandhar. Dallewal was earlier admitted to the hospital due to health problems. However, now he is being shifted to another place for other medical facilities.
