Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has dismissed the chief minister's allegations of political interference in the appointments of VCs in the state's universities. Along with this, the Governor challenged CM Pinarayi Vijayan to give evidence of his interference or to resign. He also said that he is ready to step down if there is any evidence of his interference.
Governor Arif Mohammad Khan also alleged that the Kerala Chief Minister's Office (KERALA CMO) was patronizing smuggling in the state. In such a situation there is ground for their intervention. Khan said, "I never interfered, but now I see that all kinds of smuggling activities are being patronized by the chief minister's office." Now books are being written. The people sitting in the CMO direct the VC of Kannur University to appoint their ineligible and ineligible relatives. I never interfered in it.'
Right to intervene against the protection of smuggling
Khan said that if the state government, CMO, and people close to the CM are indulging in smuggling activities, then there is a chance for me to intervene. Khan openly challenged the Chief Minister, asking if he was ready to resign if he was unable to prove his allegations.
Is CM ready to resign?
Kerala Governor Khan said, "They (Left government and CM) are saying that I am doing this (action against Vice-Chancellors) to bring in RSS people. But, if I have nominated a single RSS person as the Vice-Chancellor using my authority, then I am ready to resign, but is the CM ready to resign if he is not able to give evidence?
CM Vijayan had alleged
The governor said that when you make serious allegations against me, you should have proof. He was asked if Vijayan has alleged that you are interfering in the VC appointment. In response, he said these things. In a program in Thiruvananthapuram, CM Vijayan had said that the governor is trying to make people from the RSS and the Sangh Parivar the Vice-Chancellor. Through them, they want to impose their agenda.
