454 votes were cast in favor of the bill and only two were cast against it. Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM opposed the bill. This party has two members in the Lok Sabha. Home Minister Amit Shah called upon all parties to give a united message to the world on the issue of women empowerment.

These two leaders did not vote in favor of the bill

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi and AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel did not vote in favor of this bill. Owaisi, while participating in the discussion regarding this bill, questioned the government in the Lok Sabha as to why there is no quota for OBC and Muslim women in it, while their representation in the House is very low.

Bill can be amended if needed: Amit Shah

He indicated that the government is ready to openly accept suggestions on the bill and amendments can be made if necessary. Law Minister Arjunram Meghwal said that the issue of women's reservation has been pending for the last 27 years and now the time has come to implement it.

The Women's Reservation Bill was presented by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and in the end he also answered. But Home Minister Amit Shah was seen in the lead role.

Shah said that the government has brought this bill not due to electoral compulsion, but due to the natural inspiration of women empowerment. Shah hit back at the opposition's questions regarding the government's intentions regarding the timing of bringing the bill and fears of delay in its implementation.

The country is run by the government, cabinet, and parliament: Amit Shah

On Rahul Gandhi's allegations that out of 90 secretaries of the Central Government, only three secretaries are from OBC, Shah said that some people believe that the country is run by the Secretary. The truth is that the country is run by the government, cabinet, and parliament. Shah said that making cheap election promises is one thing and working for the upliftment of OBCs, Dalits and women at the grassroots level is another thing.

What did PM Modi say about the OBC category?

Pointing out that PM Narendra Modi belongs to the OBC category, he said, "BJP is the only party in this country which has given an OBC PM.
