Gurgaon, March 19 (IANS) For the second successive day, a large group of labourers protested outside the office of a subcontractor of realty giant DLF demanding compenstion for the family of a 40-year-old colleague who was found dead Wednesday in the latter's labour camp, police said.
Naved, the project manager of the subcontractor, Leighton, told the protestors that Rs.10 lakh has been already paid to the deceased's family and company will help in the marriage of the deceased's sister.
Meanwhile the medical report of deceased, Badan Chaudhary, suggested that he died of a heart attack and not because of food poisoning.
Chaudhary was on Wednesday found dead in his room at DLF's labour campus in sector 62.
The protesters alleged that Chaudhary, who hailed from Jharkhand, died due to the poor quality of food provided by a contractor to whom the catering had been outsourced.
Hundreds of labourers working in the DLF project live in the company's labour campus.
Labourers had on Wednesday protested the death and vandalised the Leighton site office.
"Labourers broke the windows and doors of the office and vandalised the equipment and furniture," a senior police officer said.
DLF said in an email that the office that was attacked on Wednesday belonged to the Leighten Group and not DLF. The email came in reaction to an IANS report titled "Labourers vandalise DLF office in Gurgaon".
